The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a St Onge man was the person killed in a single-vehicle accident near Custer in the early morning hours of last Thursday.
The Patrol had waited to release the identity of 45-year old Shannon Hanson until family notification was complete.
The preliminary crash investigation shows Hanson was eastbound on Hwy 16A about 8 miles east of Custer around 12:45 AM when his late-model pickup crossed the center line, and hit a tree.
Hanson was alone and wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
