Loading

Graduation weekend at Chadron State College begins tonight at 7:00 in Memorial Hall with the annual Ivy Day honors program recognizing outstanding graduating seniors in all academic areas.

The Platinum Eagle Award for student leadership, one of CSC’s most prestigious honors since its inception over 30 years ago, will also be presented tonight.

Ivy Day grew out of traditional May Day activities decades ago and is now sponsored by the Cardinal Key and Blue Key Honor Societies.

Blue Key and Cardinal Key members serve as the Masters of Ceremony, Lydia Connell and Breyvin Schlueter this year, and each group will give an oration – Isioma Akwanamnye for Cardinal Key and Estabon Bozeman for Blue Key.

Akwanamnye and Bozeman are among the Ivy Day King and Queen candidates. The other Queen candidates are Alexis Heller, Abigail Klammer, Aubree Noble, and Jori Peters while the King hopefuls are RIley Hill, Justin Gress, Kael Juelfs, and Jordan Orr.

Tomorrow’s Commencement has a single ceremony for both undergraduate and graduate candidates at 10 a.m. in the Chicoine Center. It will be available online at CSC Live and on Great Plains Cable channel 20.

The commencement address will be given by Nebraska State College System Chancellor Dr. Paul Turman a frequent guest on the CSC campus since taking over the 3-school system in 2019.
