Kimball Man Bound Over For Trial In Fatal Shooting Of His Girlfriend

A Kimball man will be arraigned March 1st in Kimball County District Court on 5 charges connected with the fatal shooting last month of his girlfriend. 36-year old William “Shane” Serrano remains in custody on $100,000 bond.

Serrano was bound over following a preliminary hearing on charges of manslaughter, attempted 1st-degree murder, possession of a gun during a felony, and attempted terroristic threats in the death of 21-year old Tessa Ghering.

Serrano’s arrest warrant says he was fighting with someone when Ghering told him about a shotgun in the garage. Serrano told investigators he tried to open the gun’s chamber when it went off and a round hit Ghering in the face, fatally wounding her.

The case is the first shooting death in Kimball since 2003.
