LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – The person who won last Saturday’s $280,000 Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot with a ticket purchased in Kimball has stepped forward. Brian Pearson claimed his prize this week at Nebraska Lottery headquarters in Lincoln.
Pearson said he hadn’t checked the results of the Saturday drawing when he heard through word of mouth that there’d been a big winner in Kimball. He admitted he was shocked when he matched his ticket’s numbers and found he was the winner.
Pearson said he chose his numbers in honor of his late wife, who died a few years ago – calling her his guardian angel. The numbers were her birthday and the date she died.
This isn’t the first time Pearson collected a significant lottery prize – having once had a $25,000 winning Scratch ticket from the Colorado Lottery.
