Local Authors The Focus Of Sunday’s Garden Party At The Dawes County Historical Museum

The Dawes County Historical Society is holding its annual Garden Party Sunday at 2:00 at the museum south of Chadron just past the golf course.

This year’s theme is authors with about a dozen area writers recognized, some who are still living and some who will be portrayed by volunteers as at the Cemetery Tours during Fur Trade Days.

Linda Rotness will be the hostess and MC. The living writers taking part are Con Marshall, Beth Gibbons, Mark Peyton, and Christine Ambrose assisted by Valarie Humphries.

Deceased authors and their portrayers are Tena Cook as Gerturde Lutz, Tammy Schoepner as Francis Chicoine, Janice German as Doris Gates, Linda Thayer as Phyllis Helzer, and KCSR/KBPY news director John Axtell. A member of the Kadlecek family will appear as Mable Kadlecek.

Books by both some of the living and dead writers will be available for purchase and there will be a signing opportunity.
