Mac’s Carnival Setting Up For Friday Opening In Chadron

Loading

Mac’s Carnival began setting up for Fur Trade Days last night in the 100 and 200 blocks of Bordeaux and between the alleys in the 100 and 200 blocks of 2nd Street.

Both streets were closed to traffic late yesterday morning in preparation for the set-up.

Mac’s Carnival with 13 rides plus the midway opens tomorrow and continues through Sunday afternoon with hours of 5:00 to midnight Friday and Saturday and noon to 5:00 on Sunday.

Vouchers for 5-hour unlimited ride wristbands are $25, but can be purchased in advance for $20 at Homestead Bank or online at shopfurtradedays.com.

The Fur Trade Days Board says it’s a great deal for buyers and helps the local economy by keeping more of the money local.

There will be more Fur Trade Days street closures tomorrow and Saturday, starting with the downtown area, which will close for tonight’s second concert, reopen open afterwards, then close from noon tomorrow to noon Sunday.

The downtown closure area will be Main Street from 3rd St/Hwy 20 to halfway down the 100 block, and 2nd Street from Morehead to Main.

The 2nd Street closure will stop through-traffic on Chadron Avenue, but the alley between Chadron and Main will remain open. The closure area is also the city’s special events open alcohol area.

Saturday morning, all of Main Street from 1st to 10th will be closed starting at 8:00 for the Fur Trade Days Parade with most sections reopening around 11:00 after the parade, which will be broadcast live on KCSR and streamed on Chadrad.com.

The 100 and 200 blocks will stay closed for the evening music and the 400 block will remain closed through most of the afternoon for the World Championship Buffalo Chip Throw.
