Monument Valley Iris Society Show Cancelled, But Sale Is On

SCOTTSBLUFF – The Monument Valley Iris Society had to cancel its annual show this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, but its annual Iris Sale is still on this weekend at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center, Saturday and Sunday from 10-3:00 both days. .

Society President Ron Charles says major changes have made to the way the sale is run because of the pandemic including 6-foot social distancing. Masks can be worn but aren’t required since it’s outdoors.

When potential buyers arrived, they’ll be given a pad and pencil to write down their order – choosing over 400 varieties – then turn in the order and pay at the spring canopies. They’ll be able to pick up their irises in about 30 days.

Charles says all the irises are beautiful, absolutely gorgeous one-of-a kind plants that grow well and are easy to maintain, joking that only 2 things will be left when the end of the world comes – cockroaches and irises.
