Neb Local Governments That Require Masks In Public Buildings Won’t CARES Money

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has preached throughout much of the coronavirus panhandle that wearing masks is in important part of slowing the spread of the virus, but he’s backing off from that message a bit.

The governor has now told local governments they will get no share of the $100-million dollars in federal money meant to help fight the effects of the pandemic if they require people to wear masks in public buildings.

Ricketts’ spokesman Taylor Gage says his boss still believes in using masks, but “does not believe that failure to wear a mask should be the basis for denying taxpayers’ services.”
