Nebraska agriculture officials say another large outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed in the state, this time on a farm in Knox County, along the South Dakota border in northeast Nebraska.

The state Dept of Agriculture says a flock of 2.1 million laying hens will be euthanized and a 6.2-mile control radius established around the farm, which was not identified. It’s the 7th confirmed case of avian influenza in Nebraska this year.

The  department also announced that an order prohibiting any type of birds from attending events such as fairs, swap meets and live auctions has been extended to May 15. It was scheduled to expire on Saturday.
