The number of workers in Nebraska with jobs reached an all-time high in February as the state’s preliminary unemployment rate fell a tenth of a point to 2.1%.

That’s 8-10ths of a point lower than a year ago and only about half of the national average for February of 6.2%, an improvement of 2.4-points from a year ago.

State Labor Commissioner John Albin says the number of employed workers hit a record 1-million, 34,720 for an increase of 20,747 over the previous 12 months.

Non-farm employment, a count of filled jobs, was a million-12,785 after adding 13,395 from January and 28,858 from last February.

The private industry sectors with the most growth for the month were Leisure and Hospitality with 2,213 more, Professional and Business Services up 1,901 and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities up 1,364.
