Rural Dawes Co Unattended Death Ruled Natural Causes

Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug says the death of a rural Dawes County man whose body was found New Year’s Day was the result of natural causes.

Haug says a concerned friend and neighbor found 65-year old Craig LaFontsee after trying unsuccessfully to contact him.

The friend called 911 and Dawes County Sheriff’s deputies responded, did an initial assessment, then contacted Haug.

Haug says a review of the evidence at the scene, LaFontsee’s medical history, and interviews of both witnesses and medical personnel led to his determination that LaFontsee died of natural causes.
