Nebraska Health and Human Services says the campaign to get the state’s adult population vaccinated against COVID-19 continues to make progress even though the pace has slowed in recent weeks as demand has weakened.
The number of new cases has also slowed. The 7-day rolling average of daily new cases in Nebraska decreased over the past two weeks, going from 322.7 on April 24 to 186.71 new cases per day on Saturday.
Monday morning’s report had just 66 new cases with 118 hospitalized as numbers for many local health districts weren’t expected until later in the day.
There have been 221,434 500 total cases since the start of the pandemic, but for the third straight day the state lowered the number of deaths – dropping from Friday’s 2,254 by 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday before falling another 5 on Monday to 2,246.
Nearly half of Nebraska’s adult population has now been vaccinated with the Monday report listing over 1.5 million doses administered with 131,000 individuals partially vaccinated and almost 736,000 of 49.6% fully vaccinated
