Nelson, Pratt Easy Winners In Hot Springs City Races, Upsets In Hot Springs And Oelrichs School Boards

On a night when many local incumbents struggled, the two Hot Springs city incumbents on the ballot cruised to easy wins.

Mayor Bob Nelson defeated Randy “Uriah” Luallin 72% to 28% or 658 votes to 252 while in the only contested Hot Springs City Council race, Larry Pratt collected 70% or 180 votes to 30% and 77 votes for David Teachout.

It was a different story for school board as incumbents for both the Hot Springs and Oelrich boards lost, each finishing last in 3-candidate races.

In the Hot Springs district, it was Zach Bell finishing 3rd behind fellow incumbent Bob Preuss and challenger Brian Jarding. Preuss edged Jarding for the top spot 38% to 37% or 862 votes to 834 while Bell trailed with 25% and 565 votes.

In Oelrichs, Jennifer Her Many Horses, the only incumbent in the race, ended well behind Marty Schommer and Katie Merdanian.

Schommer got 45% of the vote or 90 votes, Merdanian finished with 34% and 68 votes, while Her Many Horses had only 21% or 42 votes.
