New COVID-19 Hospitalization Record For WyomingPosted by John AxtellDate: October 08, 2020146 Views On Wednesday, the Wyoming Dept of Health reported 115 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of cases to 5,866. An additional 75 people recovered from the virus, pushing that count to 4,685. With the Wyoming death toll from COVID-19 staying at 53, the number of active cases dropped to 1,128 but the number of hospitalized cases rose to a new high of 47. That’s nearly double the previous record of 24 set just last week, but it’s not high enough to worry Wyoming health officials about any specific hospital being overwhelmed. They say that’s because the 47 patients are spread among 14 hospitals around the state. Wyoming Medical Center in Casper has the most at 12, followed by Sheridan Memorial Hospital with 5. Still, they do worry about the small intensive-care capacity of most Wyoming hospitals.
