New COVID Cases In Nebraska Increase For 10th Straight Week

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the state has increased for 10 straight weeks and has nearly doubled in just the last two, according to an Omaha World-Herald analysis of data from the CDC.

The paper says Nebraska reported 5,006 new cases for the week ending Friday, up from 3,755 the previous week and 2,668 cases the week before that.

The seven-day rolling average of daily new cases in Nebraska has risen over the past two weeks from 190 on Aug. 15 to 715 on Sunday.

Nebraska closed its coronavirus dashboard at the end of June because the number of new cases had dropped to very low levels, replacing it with weekly updates but without county-by-county breakdowns.
