A 30-year Nebraska Game and Parks veteran is the new administrator of the agency’s Parks Division. Josh Fields actually began his new post April 11.

The Tilden native has been the Regional Park Administrator for the Northeast Parks Region for the past 5 years.

Fields joined Nebraska Game and Parks in 1992 as a seasonal employee in the Resource Services, then spent several years in Iowa in law enforcement and park management.

He returned to Game and Parks in 1998 as Superintendent of Ponca State Park and held that post for 19 years before being promoted to regional superintendent.

Field says his life passion is to provide opportunities for the public to experience and learn about Nebraska’s natural, recreational, and cultural resources – adding that he’s honored to the agency’s outstanding team of staff, volunteers, and partners.

Game and Parks Deputy Director Jim Swenson says Fields brings an impressive resume of achievements, leadership skills, and partnership development to working to conserve and protect Nebraska’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources.

Swenson also says the Game and Parks Commission and the agency leadership are excited to watch Fields apply his passion for family-friendly outdoor recreation and interpretation across the park system.
