New Program Streamlines Transfers From LCCC To CSC For Exercise Science Students

HPER Assistant Professor Dr Brittany Helmbrecht And HPER 207 class/ Daniel Binkard CSCDr.

A new program approved in May by the Nebraska State College Trustees gives Exercise Science students at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne a streamlined transfer process in the Sport, Fitness, and Recreation Management degree at Chadron State College.

Students in any of the 4 Exercise Science options at LCCC can enter any of the 5 CSC programs: Community and Adventure Recreation, Sports Leadership, Strength and Conditioning, Fitness and Wellness, and Athletic Training Preparation.

CSC Department Chair Dr Scott Ritzen calls the program a perfect fit because most of the lower division classes at the two schools are a good match, leaving just the upper division CSC courses for the transfers to complete.

Ritzen credits LCCC instructor Dr Erin Nitschke with reaching out to him some two years ago about a transfer program.

Catalog changes, approval of the new strength and conditioning option at CSC, and the pandemic caused some delays, but the agreement was finally approved by both colleges  earlier this spring.
