No Problems And 46.6% Voter Turnout In Dawes County

Loading

Dawes County Clerk Cheryl Feist is very pleased with yesterday’s primary election, saying the tallying went smoothly with almost no problems at all.

Only two of the 2,458 ballots cast were rejected by the electronic scanner, apparently for wrinkles. Two election workers copied the choices onto blank ballots that ran through the scanner with no problems.

Feist was also very pleased with the turnout of 46.6%, one of the highest for a primary election in several cycles and well above the 35% statewide prediction from Secretary of State Bob Evnen.

Feist thinks strong interest in the Chadron City Council race and the Republican race for governor helped fuel the strong turnout.

  1. I am so proud of our Dawes County Voters!! You really turned out and we need to work even harder for the General Election. We have a lot of work to do. Thank you. We have a deep swamp in Eastern Nebraska and they exposed themselves a lot so now we know who a lot of them are.
