Noem Examining SD Policing Laws In Wake Of Floyd Death

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she will examine the state’s policing laws in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police and the worldwide protests it has sparked.

The Republican governor didn’t give many specifics on what police reforms she’s considering, acknowledging only that the Floyd case revealed a pressing problem and mentioning just a few issues.

Noem indicated she would take a conservative approach to policing reforms, pressing for the need for personal responsibility and change at the local level.
