Noem Sending $200-M In Coronavirus Relief Money To Local Governments

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she’ll be sending $200 million of the state’s $1-1/4-billion dollars in federal coronavirus relief funds to city and county government, with the amount going to each based on their population.

Noem is still hoping part of the relief money can be used to make up for losses in state tax revenue caused by the economic downturn resulting from the pandemic, an impact she warns could last for years.
