A 16-member contingent of line technicians and supervisory staff from Nebraska Public Power District left today for Louisiana to help restore power knocked out Sunday by Hurricane Ida.
More than a million residents were without electricity Monday.
Entergy, one of Louisiana’s primary electric providers, says over 822,000 of its 1.3-million customers were without power and that it might be weeks before service is restored.
The NPPD group is scheduled to arrive at a staging area in the Louisiana capitol of Baton Rouge on Thursday with a commitment of 2 weeks working to repair or replace downed lines and transmission structures.
