70-year old Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers, one of the most storied players in Nebraska football history says he’s feeling much better after a bout with COVID-19 and pneumonia that landed him in the hospital on Thanksgiving.

Longtime business partner Denny Drake says Rodgers called him Sunday morning and said he was “feeling much better” and had taken a good turn toward recovery after having been described until late Saturday as “pretty weak.”

Drake says the 1972 Heisman Trophy winner who was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002 went to the hospital Thanksgiving morning with doctors finding pneumonia as well as COVID.

Sources close to Rodgers said doctors put him in the intensive care unit on Tuesday after his condition worsened.
