One Dead In Scottsbluff Shooting, Suspect Sought

Scottsbluff-area authorities are looking for a man described as armed and dangerous as the suspect in a fatal shooting late Tuesday afternoon.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of family.

Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer says the suspect is 38-year-old Davin Saunders, who is black, 5-11, and 205 pounds. Anyone with information about his location is asked to immediately contact local law enforcement.

Chief Spencer says officers called to a residence on the west side of Scottsbluff shortly after 5:00 on a report of an argument possibly followed by gunfire found the 60-old woman with gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel arrived about the same time as the officers and began life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

An intensive manhunt followed that included the use of drones and officers from the Scottsbluff and Gering police, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nebraska State Patrol. Despite hours of searching, Saunders remained at large.

Spencer doesn’t say why Saunders was identified as the suspect, but does say the motive for the shooting is unclear and that there was a family relationship between Saunders and the victim.
