The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two people were killed in separate accidents Saturday morning in the Black Hills. Names have not been released in either accident.

The patrol says a passenger was killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident about 7:30 a-m near Piedmont when an eastbound car driven by a 21-year old female driver left a county road a mile east of Piedmont, went into the ditch, and rolled.

Both the driver and her 32-year old male passenger were wearing seat belts, but while she escaped with minor injuries he was pronounced dead at the scene. Charges are pending against the driver.

The second accident involved 3 motorcycles and occurred just before noon on Hwy 16A about a mile west of Keystone.

The Patrol says one bike rider was westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and went into the opposite lane and collided with an eastbound motorcycle.

The first bike went into the ditch and struck a third motorcycle that was unoccupied and parked on the shoulder of the road. The 63-year male rider was thrown and pronounced dead at the scene.

The 60-year old man on the second motorcycle suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Rapid City Hospital. Neither rider was wearing a helmet.
