Panhandle Has First Confirmed COVID-19 Case

SCOTTSBLUFF – The Panhandle has its first confirmed case of coronavirus/COVID-19.

Scotts Bluff County Health Dept Director Paulette Schnell says it’s a man in his 30s who lives in Scotts Bluff County and has been isolated at his home since last Tuesday. She also says the case is not related to a recently confirmed case in Goshen County, Wyo.

Schnell says the investigation to identify everyone the man had close contact with in the past 14 days is underway to help prevent further spread. All identified close contacts will self-quarantine and be actively monitored twice daily by public health officials for fever and respiratory symptoms.

The Nebraska Dept of Health and Human Services says the state had 120 COVID-19 cases as of Sunday night.
