Panhandle Records 7th COVID-19 DeathPosted by John AxtellDate: September 12, 2020 1:21 pmLeave a comment1393 ViewsThe Panhandle has suffered its 7th COVID-19 death and like the first 6, the victim is a Scotts Bluff County resident with pre-existing health issues. Panhandle Unified Command reported 8 new cases and 8 more recoveries yesterday with the number of active cases falling by 1 because of the death. The region has had 738 total cases, 648 recoveries, and 83 active cases with 7 hospitalized. Dawes County had no new cases yesterday and 3 more recoveries, dropping the number of active cases to 14 with 112 total cases and 98 recoveries. Chadron State College has 44 total cases, 41 recoveries, and 3 active cases – 2 students and 1 employee. The Chadron school district still has 1 active case but added another quarantine on Friday for a total of 5. Statewide, Nebraska Health and Human Resources recorded another 4 COVID-19 deaths on Friday, bringing the total to 26 over the last 3 days and 434 since the start of the pandemic.
