The Nebraska State Patrol says a truck driver from the Panhandle was among 3 people killed in a 2-vehicle collision about 1:00 Friday afternoon in northeast Nebraska at the junction of Hwys 18 and 275 near Neligh

The State Patrol says 31-year old Shane Ernest of Dalton was southbound on Hwy 14 when he failed to stop and collided in the intersection with the SUV of an Orchard couple.

74-year old Geraldine and 72-year old Norman Elsberry were pronounced dead at the scene, as was Ernest.

The Patrol says both vehicles continued southbound in a residential area after the collision and hit a parked and unoccupied SUV. The 2 SUVs then hit a house, causing moderate damage.

Ernest’s semi rolled onto its side, spilling its load of pelletized lime. The State Patrol Carrier Enforcement Division conducted a post-crash inspection of the semi.
