Pine Ridge Homicide Suspect Arrested After Rapid City Standoff

PINE RIDGE, SD -Oglala Sioux Tribal Police Chief Robert Ecoffey says the suspect in a fatal shooting early Tuesday morning in Pine Ridge was arrested Friday evening after a standoff with police in Rapid City.

26-year-old Colton Bagola had been sought on a federal warrant for 2nd-degree murder in the death of 30-year old Sloane Bull Bear. Authorities have not released details of the homicide.

Rapid City police say “highly credible information” led officers to a North Rapid home Friday morning where Bagola was believed to be alone and barricaded inside.

Bagola had been described since the homicide as armed and dangerous, so the Rapid City-Pennington County special response team was summoned and an area around the home cordoned off.

Authorities described an “off and on” law enforcement presence at the house all day. Bagola eventually came out of the house and surrendered around 6 pm.
