PPHD Director Kim Engel Named To Nebraska Community Foundation Board

Panhandle Public Health District Executive Director Kim Engel has been elected to the Nebraska Community Foundation board.

Engel was elected unanimously last month by the other board members along with retired educator Beth Roelfs of rural Diller and Karina Perez, executive director of Centro Hispano in Columbus.

Community Foundation President and CEO Jeff Yost says Engel, Roelfs, and Perez each represent diverse regions, life experiences, and professional areas of expertise.

Yost says they also share the passion and devotion of the other board members for the Foundation’s mission of building stronger communities and a Greater Nebraska.

Kim Engel has headed PPHD since 2003 and before that was COO of Chadron Community Hospital, where she managed its rural health clinic and supervised services for special needs children. She was also active in the family farm.

She serves on the Executive Committee of the National Association of City and County Health Officials, and is the current vice president and past treasurer of the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors.

Engle is married with 3 sons and 8 grandchildren. She considers herself “beyond lucky” that all 3 boys, their wives, and the grandkids all live within 15 miles of each other and are achieving their dreams.
