Prescribed Burn Planned Tuesday East Of Chadron


CHADRON – Nebraska Game and Parks plans to conduct a prescribed burn starting about noon Tuesday on the Bordeaux Creek Wildlife Management Area east of Chadron.

The 155-acre fire on non-timbered grassland east of Bordeaux Road and south of Highway 20 will be held only if factors including weather conditions such as wind and humidity fall within a narrow range, otherwise it will be postponed.

The prescribed burn is intended to reduce or eliminate smooth brome and plant litter on the property and prepare it for grazing when green vegetation appears this spring.

The Bordeaux Creek burn is one of 3 planned for Dawes County and 8 across the Panhandle this spring and some of those not completed will be rescheduled for this fall as weather conditions allow:
