The Rapid City Area Schools did close all its facilities, but only after receiving a direct threat to its North Middle School. Supt Dr Lori Simon sent out a text that the closure was “out of an abundance of caution.”
Dr Simon’s text also said law enforcement was “currently” investigating the threat to both determine if there was any credence and to find the sender.
The Rapid City Police Department posted on its Facebook page that it had determined the North Middle School in the threat was actually in Iowa, but that the decision to continue the local school closures was made to ensure safety.,
