RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police arrested a man Friday morning after an hour-long standoff. The 18-year old, whose name has not yet been released, surrendered without incident at an apartment complex.
Police responded to the complex a little after midnight and were told by witnesses that the teen had pointed a gun at 2 people and fired it outside about midnight.
When officers arrived, they evacuated the complex and formed a perimeter around it, but couldn’t locate the teen. A special response team was also called in.
Police eventually discovered the teen was in an apartment and began negotiating with him about 6:30 a.m. He surrendered about an hour later.
