     John Sutherland officially took over this week as the new city manager of Chadron, and the city is holding a meet-and-greet reception for him this afternoon.
The entire community is invited to come into the City Council Chambers anytime between 4:30 and 6:00 to welcome Sutherland to his new home and job.
Sutherland had spent some 3 decades in government management, primarily at the city level, before retiring 2 years ago as city manager of Lamar, Colorado, and moving to Rapid City.
       He says he quickly realized he wasn’t ready to retire because he still had too much to offer, especially for a city such as Chadron – which he’d visited many times over the years because he had family in the area.
