Ricketts Names New Director For Dept Of Insurance

Governor Pete Ricketts has named a health insurance lobbyist and former state official as the next director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance.

Eric Dunning of Omaha succeeds Bruce Ramge, who’s retiring this month as the state’s longest-serving insurance director. He starts in 2 weeks on the 19th at a salary of $139,000 a year.

Dunning has been the director of government affairs for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska since 2013, but before that spent more than 15 years as an attorney for the Dept of Insurance – advising agency leaders on legal matters relating to insurance rules.
