Ricketts Rescinds CSC Student Trustee Appointment Pending Protection Order Decisions

Loading

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has rescinded, at least temporarily his appointment of Caleb Tegtmeier as the Chadron State College student member of the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees.

Two fellow students have filed protection order requests in court, claiming Tegtmeier molested them. His family confirms he is the subject of a separate Title IX investigation on campus.

Alex Reuss, the governor’s communications director, says Tegtmeier’s appointment as student trustee is now pending the outcome of the protection order requests, which isn’t expected until at least May 23, and that no one will fill the seat until then.

Applications for student trustee closed last October and Ricketts’ picked Tegtmeier in January. Reuss says the governor learned of the allegations against him April 13, after the story broke in the Chadron Eagle student newspaper.

Tegtmeier is a sophomore from North Platte and a member of RHOP, the Rural Health Opportunities Program.

His mother, Elizabeth Tegtmeier, is a candidate for the Nebraska State Board of Education. She issued a statement last week saying the accusations were a private family matter, but that she was “confident the truth will prevail.”
