GERING – Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says a one-vehicle rollover accident near Scottsbluff Friday night resulted in one fatality.
Sheriff Overman says a Nebraska State Trooper witnessed the accident about 11:30 PM on Spring Creek Road near its intersection with Highway 26 and contacted the county dispatch center. The trooper said the vehicle was on fire and CPR was underway on a man ejected from the vehicle.
Overman says the man, a 38-year old Scottsbluff resident, was declared dead at the scene while a 32-year old Scottsbluff man was taken to Regional West Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The sheriff did not identify which man was the driver and both names are being withheld pending notification of family. Overman says neither man was wearing a seat belt and that alcohol and speed are being investigated by his office as contributing factors to the accident.
