Routine Wyo Traffic Stop Nets $150-M in Fentanyl

A routine traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne last Tuesday turned into a major drug bust for Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The trooper became suspicious after hearing “implausible travel plans” from the driver and detained him.

The trooper’s K-9 partner then alerted to the odor of drugs and a full search of the car was conducted.

The search uncovered 24 pounds of the powerful opiate Fentanyl with a street value of roughly $150-million dollars.

The driver was arrested on multiple drug possession and distribution charges.
