SB High Principal Picked As Next Valentine Supt

VALENTINE – Scottsbluff High School Principal Mike Halley has been named the new Superintendent of the Valentine Public Schools, where he will succeed the retiring Dr Jamie Isom.

Halley has been principal at Scottsbluff High since 201l and was assistant principal and assistant athletic director before that.

He tells Rural Radio News that while he’s been happy at Scottsbluff, becoming superintendent in Valentine is a “career advancement move” with new challenges and a chance for his wife to be closer to family in that area.

The Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals Region 5 Principal of the Year for 2017-18, Halley says the Scottsbluff district has given him unbelievable opportunities to grow as an administrator.

That include being involved with the passage of a $29.2 million bond issue that include a major renovation and expansion of the high school, helping supervise the follow-up construction, implementing changes in school programming.

Halley says he will miss the students and will miss watching them do their thing, both inside the classroom and outside – calling Scottsbluff a very special place.
