SCOTTSBLUFF – A Scottsbluff daycare where two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 has closed for the next 2 weeks. Sunshine Corner Day Care made the decision to close until June 12th after close consultation with Panhandle Unified Command.
A joint statement says an administrative staffer was diagnosed this past Monday with the contact investigation by Unified Command determining that other staff members were close contact of the infected staffer, although none of the children were.
That led to the decision to close, but since then a second staffer who did have contact with children at Sunshine Corner also tested positive with children in that specific age group advised to self-quarantine as a precaution. There are no confirmed cases among any of the children.
The joint statement says Sunshine Corner staff who had direct exposure to the 2 positive cases will be tested and follow appropriate safety precautions in accordance with the facility’s response plan.
Sunshine board president Mike Donovan says the hearts of the board members are heavy over the news of the positive cases because they value the employees, clients, and children as if they are their own family – adding that the center will follow all the advice given by local health officials.
