SD Considering Tightening New Medical Marijuana Law

South Dakota lawmakers looking to remake the state’s medical marijuana law passed by voters with 70% support just last year are recommending that growing medical marijuana in homes be outlawed.

A legislative subcommittee Wednesday approved a spate of recommended changes that could potentially make it more difficult for people in rural areas to access medical cannabis.

One proposed change allows local governments to prohibit dispensaries.

The recommendations must be approved by the Marijuana Interim Study Committee before they can be sent to the full Legislature.
