South Dakota health officials on Friday reported an additional 33 deaths related to COVID-19, and 771 new confirmed cases, bringing the death toll to 1,210 and the total number of confirmed cases to 82,606.
15,622 cases are considered active, that number is down from 16,234 on Thursday. An additional 1,524 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 71,316.
467 people are currently hospitalized, the lowest number of hospitalizations since early November, when the state began seeing a surge of new cases and hospitalizations.
COVID-19 patients occupy 17% of the state’s hospital beds and 36.8% of the state’s ICU beds. Officials say 35% of hospital beds and 30% of ICU beds are still available.
