SD Legislative Committee Rejects Medical Pot At School Rules

Loading

A South Dakota legislative committee has rejected rules proposed by Gov. Kristi Noem’s administration to set parameters for students who need to use medical marijuana at school.

Voters last November approved medical marijuana with the law going into effect July 1st, but the state is still setting up the various rules and regulations.

Noem opposed the ballot measure and tried unsuccessfully earlier this year to delay its implementation.

The school-use rules were sent back to the SD Dept of Education for revision on Monday after lawmakers complained they required access to medical pot in private schools.

They also wanted the rules to spell out what activities students would be barred from while using marijuana prescribed by a doctor.
