Security Field Training Exercise This Week At Ellsworth AFB

The U-S Air Force and Box Elder-area authorities are telling residents not to be worried if they hear gunshots and explosions or see smoke coming from Ellsworth Air Force Base over the next 3 days – it’s just a training exercise.

The 28th Security Forces Squadron, which protects Ellsworth as well as detachments of the 28th Bomb Wing on deployment, is holding an air base defense operations field training exercise through Thursday.

The Air Force says some of the training scenarios will extend into the evening and early morning hours.

The 28th Security Forces Squadron provides integrated defense and combat capability – what the unit’s website proudly proclaims as “an impenetrable umbrella of force protection encompassing all personnel, property and resources.”
