Senators Want Biden To Meet With State Leaders About Proposed VA Closures

The VA hospitals in Hot Springs and Sturgis aren’t the only ones in the country recommended for closing by the agency’s Asset and Infrastructure Review Commission, and leaders in other states on the list aren’t happy either.

A bipartisan group of a dozen U-S senators are asking President Joe Biden to consult with officials state by state on the possible impact of the recommendations.

South Dakota Republicans Mike Rounds and John Thune are on the list along with Wyoming’s John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis, but so are Steve Daines of Montana, Ted Cruz of Texas, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.

Democrats asking for the consultation include Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, and New Mexico’s Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Lujan.
