Seniors Dine Free Today At Chadron Senior Center

Loading

Lunch at the Chadron Senior Citizen Center is normally $5 for those 60 and older, but it’s free today as the Senior Life Solutions program at Chadron Community Hospital tries to ramp up interest in the weekday meals.

Program Director Amy Langford says Senior Life Solutions is a mental health program that helps seniors adjust to the changes in life brought on by getting older.

Langford says she’s asked Senior Center Director Sheila Motz about talking with seniors about how her program could better serve them, and was concerned to hear that lunch numbers are down significantly from pre-pandemic levels.

Landford took her concerns to Chadron Community CEO Nathan Hough and he enthusiastically signed on to her idea to publicize the Senior Center meal program and its related Meals on Wheels program.

Meals on Wheels will go out between 11:00 and noon with serving at the Center starting at noon. Sheila Motz says today’s menu is one of the Senior Center’s most popular – fried chicken, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, and applesauce cake.

In addition to making today’s lunch free for those dining in or having a meal delivered, Langford is offering door prizes.

Langford and her staff will be at the lunch to get to know more of the seniors and answer any questions they may have about her program
