Severe Weather Damages Trees & Crops In Central Panhandle, Drops Large Hail

Severe weather that swept through the central and northern panhandle on Monday afternoon and evening dropped hail over three inches in diameter and produced straight line winds at nearly 60 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, downed trees and damaged crops were reported around the Bayard area and road markers being used on the highway 385 expansion project at the 385 and 62-A link junction were pushed into the east ditch which could be seen on NDOT road cameras.

A report from the National Weather Service in North Platte shows that the largest hail fell in southern Sheridan County by the town of Lakeside where stones measured 3.25”.

A tornado warning was briefly put in place for Morrill County, but there were no reports of a twister.

Weather for the region clears up for the remainder of the week with our next chance of storms moving in over the weekend.
