Sidney District Judge Spends Tuesday As Nebraska Supreme Court Justice

District Judge Derek Weimer of Sidney became a member of the Nebraska Supreme Court on Tuesday, but just for the day.

The state’s 7-member high court picks an Appeals Court or district judge to fill in when one of the justices must recuse him or herself from a case.

For Weimer, the call came to him this time.

For most court observers, Tuesday’s session was important because it was the first on heard by the Supreme Court in its courtroom in several months.

The high court meets in the Capitol and an upgrade ti the building’s heating-ventilation-air conditioning system had closed the courtroom.
