Slash Pile Burns Today South Of Chadron

CHADRON – The U-S Forest Service is burning piles of timber slash again today in the Chadron area. Pine Ridge District Ranger Tim Buskirk says the work will focus on areas south of Chadron and potentially along Highway 385 north of Chadron State Park.

Buskirk says the Forest Service tries to burn as many slash piles as possible right after snowstorms because snow on the ground creates an additional barrier to the fires spreading while the moisture in the snow isn’t enough to affect the actual burning.
