Loading

A Chadron man is in custody on $50,000 bail for allegedly stabbing another man the evening of Thursday, June 2, in a Chadron residence.

37-year old Joseph Little Moon Jr is charged with felony 2nd-degree assault and misdemeanor carrying concealed weapons. The name of the male victim has not been released.

Chadron Police Sgt Chet Swanson says when he and officer Mark Cloyd responded to the Pony Park Trailer Court on a report of a disturbance and possible stabbing, they were met by Little Moon who directed them inside a trailer to the victim.

Sgt Swanson says the man was lying on a coach with a stab wound to the upper groin. When asked who stabbed him, he said Little Moon.

Swanson says he then spoke with Little Moon, who admitted he stabbed the man using a knife concealed in his walking cane.

The Chadron Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Unit soon arrived and transported the victim to Chadron Community Hospital for treatment.

Swanson and Cloyd collected additional statements and photographed the scene before taking Little Moon into custody and transporting him to the Dawes County Jail.
