State Senate GOP Leader Drops Reelection Bid Posted by John Axtell Date: August 05, 2020 25 Views PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota State Senate majority leader Kris Langer is dropping out of her campaign for reelection, saying she is looking forward to spending more time with her family. Langer has worked worked closely with Gov. Kristi Noem, a fellow Republican, but received a formal rebuke from fellow senators after she was found to be intoxicated during the final hours of the legislative session in March. Two independent candidates are running for Langer’s State Senate seat, but no Democrat. The South Dakota GOP has until Tuesday to name a candidate to replace Langer.
